THE ASK
The Hyndburn Way is a £500k National Lottery initiative led by Hyndburn Leisure, set up to tackle health inequalities and improve wellbeing by bringing local charities, the NHS and the council together.
For the programme to succeed, it needed a clear, credible evaluation framework — one that could track progress, show value to funders, and guide future decisions.
what we did
- Designed a multi-method evaluation framework blending data, metrics and lived experience
- Immersed ourselves in the programme to understand workstreams, funder commitments and stakeholder ambitions
- Mapped the expected community impacts, translating them into clear indicators and methods for collecting evidence
what changed
The framework gave The Hyndburn Way the tools to:
- Track progress with confidence — using a rigorous, independent structure to guide ongoing learning
- Showcase its impact with clarity — translating data and lived experience into evidence that funders and partners could trust
- Inform commissioning decisions — providing a practical reference point for shaping priorities and aligning services
- Embed a shared approach to decision-making — creating a consistent structure for reporting, learning and strategic choices across partners
